About us

CHILDREN HOSPITAL

was established in 1976 at Huzuribagh Srinagar adjacent to the Lal Ded Hospital with intake bed capacity of 175 beds. At its establishment the population of the valley was approximately 30 lacs to provide tertiary care treatment to Neonatal and Pediatric patients and caters to patients from all parts of the Valley including parts of the Jammu and the Ladakh region. Being one and the only referral child care hospital, it is grossly over burdened thus affecting the relationship between patients and health care providers leading to deterioration in health care and attrition in care providers. The occupancy rates are much higher than the available bed strength which is evident everyday in the form of one bed having 2 and often even 3 occupants resulting in considerable difficulties in providing quality care.

PARADOXICALLY

in 2005 the hospital was shifted to G.B. Pant General Hospital and downsized to a capacity of 135 beds and in this process losing its individual identity as well. The Hospital was shifted to Children Hospital  Bemina to a Capacity of 500 Beds on 25th  September 2022.
