Govt. Lalla Ded Hospital is a 700 bedded tertiary care Hospital catering to whole valley and serves as a referral Hospital to all peripheral hospitals and even other medical colleges. LD Hospital, as it is popularly called, was established in December 1980 when the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of GMC Srinagar was shifted from SMHS Hospital to 100 bedded Hospital on the banks of river Jhelum. It is named to commemorate the revered Saint & Poetess of Kashmir, Lalla Ded. Over the past 41 years, it has evolved from 100 beds to 700 bedded tertiary care hospital providing excellent maternal and gynaecological services. It is the Alma mater of gynaecologists of valley. It is a teaching hospital with both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Apart from running 24 X 7 obstetric and antenatal services, this Hospital offers state of the art gynaecology services including infertility, urogynaecology, gynaecological oncology, minimal access surgeries, adolescent & geriatric health care. We also cater to all high risk pregnancies of the valley. In addition, we started separate covid facility with its own 10 bedded ICU.

            This Hospital also provides family planning services and has 24 X 7 USG, Blood Bank, NICU, ICU & Lab facilities available. In addition to performing countless office procedures like LBC, Colposcopy and pipelle biopsy, we have also started IUI in our OPD from July 2022. Our Hospital is LAQSHYA accredited 2023
