It has always been an endeavour of the department to develop clinical research facilities in SMHS & Associated hospital which could later be translated into diagnostics for serving the downtrodden and needy patients of the valley. Basic and collaborative research with clinicians on various disease processes is being done. The department is the designated Research Centre of University of Kashmir since 2010.
In a well-planned manner this department has persistently aimed to improve research activities of this institution. Untiring efforts have led to substantial research project funding (listed below) from key agencies to do biomedical research which is a costly affair.
