Respected Faculty Govt.Medical college Srinagar,Kashmir
Hope all of you are well . As an old alumni of GMC , it gives me pleasure to present my recently published book BUMPY ROADS . I have tried to highlight medical school life and hope it will bring back great memories to all of you . We are proud of this great institution and fondly recollect wonderful times spent in the college. Your advice to improve the book especially Medical school life is most welcome . I dont have emails of all faculty members kindly feel free to forward this book to all our faculty members in all departments .May God bless all of you
I had an opportunity of following two of my relatives from emergency room to their transfer to wards for continued work up and management. The attention was timely, steps in the right manner, investigations problem oriented and disposal prompt. I saw them in ward 3 and 18. The rooms look cleaner, surroundings tidy, bath rooms bit optimal. Having seen what I have, patients in emergency have little advantage by reporting to SMHS than any other place in the city. I must congratulate you for all this change and pray that you remain guided to take it further up. I did not like the sight of sharing of wards/beds by women and men. I saw this mixture on both the wards mentioned. This is uncivil, unethical and unislamic. Surely there must be a solution to this,I would strongly urge you to look into it seriously.
Allahs blessings and my best wishes for you always.
It gives me immense pleasure to congratulate GMC for the launch of its much needed new web site.
I also wanted to congratulate and thankall the students, support staff and facultyat GMC who have played a vital role in helping GMC through a very difficult and turbulent period. On behalf of my family and other non resident Kashmiris in USA, our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for working/studying under very difficult circumstances with staff shortages, personal security risks-- even assassinations-, curfews, check pointsetc. We salute you for staying in Kashmir and thereby providing the much needed care and solace to the needy ones.
As an alumni of the first batch of GMC I have observed GMCs highs and lows since its birth in 1959and I am pleased to see a new renassaince over past few years. We hope and pray that this momentum will be maintained and GMC will reach new heights.
My bestguess is that over five thousand have graduated from GMC, they are providing valuable services in all parts of the world and many have reached extraordinary positions. Besides providing medical care some have excelled in other fields as well--as researchers, writers, authors, humanitarians, administratorsetc.
In my field of practice, Medicine in USA, one of the GMCalumni Dr. Tanveer Mir this year has been elected as chair of the board of Regents of the American College of Physicians which is the largest speciality medical organization in the world with over 130,000 members globally. This is a great honor for all of us, she will be the first non Caucasian/Asian to hold this important position. Also, four GMC alumni have been bestowed Mastership in ACP which I believe is a record in itself--Drs. Mohammaed Sultan Khuroo, Dr Khalid Jehangir Qazi, Dr Tanveer Mir and me. To have four MACPs from one medical school in Asia--GMC-- is a matter of great pride and privilege and probably a record in itself.
In closing, let us collectively work towards the improvement of GMC which as the oldest medical school in J& K will have an impact for generations to come. The website provides us an opportunity to share ideas and make suggestions, I also wanted to thank principal Dr.Rafiq Ahmad Pampori sahib for his tireless efforts in improving GMC, we all owe him much thanks.
